Who We Are And This Policy
Polisher is based in Germiston, Gauteng and supplies polishers, buffs, compounds and polishing training for metal and car finishing across South Africa, including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and Bloemfontein. This policy applies to personal information collected when you submit an enquiry, request a quotation, book training, ask for product support, or otherwise deal with us in the ordinary course of business.
For purposes of POPIA, Polisher is the responsible party and Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd acts as the operator that may process information on our instructions. We only collect information that is needed to respond to enquiries, provide services and manage our customer records properly.
Information We Collect From Enquiries And Requests
We may collect the information you provide directly on our contact page, during training bookings, or when requesting advice on machine care, pad and compound matching, starter kits, workshop setup or consumables restocking. This may include your name, company name, area, contact details, the type of machine or finish you are working with, and any notes you choose to share about your project.
- Identification and contact details you submit voluntarily
- Project information, product interests and training requirements
- Records of correspondence and follow-up notes
- Technical preferences relevant to polishing, buffing and safety advice
We may also collect basic technical information when you browse our pages, such as device type, browser details and general usage data, to help keep the site functioning properly.
How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information to respond to enquiries, arrange consultations, process training requests, prepare starter kit advice and provide practical support around rotary and dual-action polishing, metal buffing and paint correction. Where needed, we may use your details to follow up on a request, clarify specifications, or share information relevant to the service you asked for.
Information may also be used for internal administration, record keeping, quality control, safety-related guidance and lawful compliance. We do not use personal information for other purposes unless we have a lawful basis to do so.
- Replying to enquiries and booking requests
- Providing product and training support
- Managing customer records and service history
- Meeting legal, tax and compliance obligations
Sharing Information And Operator Processing
We may share personal information only where necessary for the operation of our business, for example with internal staff responsible for sales, training, technical advice and customer support. Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd may process information on our behalf as an operator, strictly in accordance with our instructions and confidentiality requirements.
We do not sell personal information. If information must be shared with a third party service provider to carry out a legitimate business function, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled securely and only for the intended purpose.
- Staff members handling your request
- Operator services acting under instruction
- Lawful disclosures required by court order or legislation
Storage, Security And Retention
We take reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse or disclosure. Access is limited to people who need the information for legitimate business purposes. Records are retained only for as long as needed for the purpose collected, or as required by law.
Because polishing training, workshop advice and customer support can involve ongoing follow-up, some records may be kept for a reasonable period so we can deal with repeat enquiries or service matters correctly. Where information is no longer needed, we aim to delete or de-identify it safely.
Your Rights Under POPIA And How To Exercise Them
You have the right to ask whether we hold personal information about you, to request access to that information and to ask for correction where details are inaccurate or incomplete. You may also object to certain processing where allowed by law, or request deletion if there is no lawful reason for us to keep it.
Requests should be made through the enquiry form on our contact page. We may ask for reasonable proof of identity before acting on a request, to protect your information from unauthorised access. If you believe your privacy rights have not been respected, you may also raise the matter with the Information Regulator.
- Request access to your personal information
- Ask for correction or deletion where appropriate
- Object to processing in certain circumstances
- Withdraw consent where consent was used as the basis for processing
Cross-Border Access, Cookies And Policy Updates
If information is accessed outside South Africa by a service provider acting for us, we will take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard consistent with POPIA. We may use cookies or similar tools to support basic site functionality and understand general usage patterns, but these do not give us more information than is reasonably needed.
We may revise this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the law, our services or the way we handle information. The latest version applies from the date it is published. Please review it when you use our contact form or ask for support, as using our services means you accept the current policy.
